Set in Chennuru, a remote village in the state of Telangana, Muthayya tells the story of the eponymous 70-year-old man who dreams of acting in the movies before he dies. A dedicated film enthusiast, Muthayya spends his time between the film theatre and the company of his best friend, 24-year-old bike mechanic Malli, with whom he shares all of his joys, sorrows, and desires. As the story unfolds, he tries to exhibit his acting skills through every possible medium, including short films and TikTok videos, but the obstacles he faces in the process leave him heartbroken. And yet, somehow, he remains hopeful. Will he manage to fulfil his dearest wish in life? Will he manage to achieve his dream and inspire everyone around him?
